Xia’s Entrepreneurship—Sweetsfamily

Updated: Jan 16

Chinese businesswoman, practitioner of mother and baby product industry for over 15 years, talks about her journey of entrepreneurship.

Xia’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2006, not with a business plan, but with a life-changing moment—becoming a mother. As she searched for products for her child, she noticed a clear gap in China’s mother and baby market. Compared with Western countries, particularly Australia, many local products lacked the same level of quality, safety, and thoughtful design. For Xia, this wasn’t just a market inefficiency—it was a problem she deeply felt as a woman and a mother.

That realization became the foundation of Sweetsfamily. Xia began importing high-quality Australian mother and baby brands, carefully selecting products that met strict safety standards and truly understood the needs of women and children. What started as a small operation gradually grew into a trusted platform serving families across China.

But Sweetsfamily was never only about products—it was about people.

From the very beginning, Xia made a conscious decision to build a team of women. Many of her employees were mothers themselves, women who understood firsthand the balance between career, family, and personal growth. Over time, the company expanded into a 40+ member, all-women team, spanning sourcing, logistics, marketing, customer service, and brand operations.

At the heart of Sweetsfamily is a clear set of values: women supporting women, flexibility with responsibility, and growth without sacrifice. Xia believed that women should not have to choose between professional ambition and personal life. Her leadership style emphasized trust, empathy, and autonomy—creating an environment where women could grow confidently in both work and life.

As the business evolved, Sweetsfamily moved through many phases—from early-stage brand introduction, to rapid growth in cross-border e-commerce, to organizational scaling and system building. Each phase required adjustment, learning, and resilience. Yet the company’s core values never changed: empower women, respect mothers, and operate with integrity.

These values were tested during Shanghai’s citywide quarantine. With logistics frozen, shipments delayed, and warehouses temporarily shut down, the supply chain for imported Australian products faced immense pressure. For a company serving families with newborns and young children, failure was not an option.

Xia led her all-women team through the crisis with transparency and calm. Together, they reassessed inventory daily, prioritized essential products, coordinated closely with overseas suppliers, and explored alternative shipping solutions whenever small windows appeared. Decisions were made quickly, collaboratively, and with care—for both customers and employees.

At the same time, Xia ensured open communication with consumers, sharing honest updates and realistic expectations. In a time of uncertainty and anxiety, trust became just as important as logistics.

Today, Xia’s story is not only one of entrepreneurship, but of female leadership. From a mother identifying a quality gap, to a founder leading a 40-person women-led organization through global disruption, her journey reflects what is possible when business is built on empathy, resilience, and empowerment.

Sweetsfamily stands as more than a company—it is a community shaped by women who understand women, proving that when women are given space to lead, they build businesses that last.all things Wix, including website building tips and interesting articles, head over to to the Wix Blog.
